Abstract
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to compare the stability of GSII implants used to treat complete edentulous patients. A multicenter prospective evaluation was carried out.

Materials and Methods: From January 2007 to December 2008, the study was conducted on 34 completely edentulous patients - maxillary, mandibular, or both - who received Osstem¢ç GSII implants at dental hospitals and clinics nationwide (Chosun University Dental Hospital, Bundang Seoul University Hospital, Apsun Dental Hospital, FM Dental Hospital, Chonnam National University, and Jeju Yena dental clinics). Before and after Osstem¢ç GSII placement, various data were collected and recorded by referring to medical records, radiographs, and clinical tests.

Results: In total, 150 implants were analyzed. The mean follow-up observation period after the implant functioning of the final prosthesis was 8.3 months. In our study, more cases were restored with fixed dentures than with overdentures. Cases restored with overdentures showed a 100% survival rate, and cases restored with fixative dentures showed a 99% survival rate. The GSII implants showed good first and second stability (after the second surgery). At the final follow-up, the survival rate of implants was 98.7%. Four implants showed excessive resorption of the alveolar bone of more than 1.5 mm within one year after implant functioning, and when they were included in the failure group, the survival rate was 97.2%. At the final follow-up observation, no cases exhibited failure of the denture.

Conclusion: Based on the above study, the Osstem¢ç GSII implant system showed good outcomes in short-term followups, and it was confirmed that this system could be usefully applied in edentulous patients during implant restoration.
